Music Ministry

"Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly... singing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God."  (Col 3:16
)

We are thankful for an active Music Ministry here at St. John the Baptist.  Music has been a very important part of our Sacred Liturgy for decades. Since 2014 it has been under the leadership of Geraldine Veroneau , our Music and Choir Director.  Our choir sings at both Masses throughout the year as well as on special celebrations.

  From our Director:
"Anyone with an interest in Music ministry is welcomed and encouraged to come to a rehearsal and try us out.  You do not need to make a definite commitment of every Sunday and you do not need to read music to be part of the choir.  We have added new members and are always happy to welcome more!"

  Congregational Singing:
The Sacred Liturgy of the Mass is designed with music as an integral part of prayer and worship.  Let's not have the choir sing alone, but raise our voices with them to God!

From the Catechism:
“The musical tradition of the universal Church is a treasure of inestimable value, greater even than that of any other art. The main reason for this pre-eminence is that, as a combination of sacred music and words, it forms a necessary or integral part of solemn liturgy.” ( CCC para #1156 )
